The sour giny

  • 1 ½ oz gin
  • ¾ oz lemon liqueur
  • ¾ oz simple syrup
  • ¾ oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 large egg white
  • ¾ oz red wine


  1. Combine the gin, lemon liqueur, simple syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and egg white in an empty cocktail shaker. Shake the mixture vigorously for 30 seconds, or until egg whites become a bit frothy.
  2. Pour into a 2nd cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake for another 10-15 seconds, then strain into a tall glass filled with ice.
  3. Finish the drink off by slowly pouring red wine over the back of a spoon, held over the center of the glass. The wine will gradually create an ombre effect in the glass.
