Hoisin BBQ beef skewers

Sometimes the best recipes are the simple ones and these skewers are just that! Made with tender beef tenderloin pieces flavoured with hoisin sauce, soy sauce, garlic and sriracha and served with refreshing lemon aioli, this simple appetizer will ignite your taste buds. 



Lemon Scallion Aioli

  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 cup scallions, minced
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1 garlic, minced

Hoisin BBQ Beef Skewers

  • 1.5 lbs, beef tenderloin, cut into 1x1 inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 8-10 pc, 6-inch bamboo skewers, soaked in water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter


Lemon scallion aioli 

  1. Combine lemon juice, minced scallions, mayonnaise, salt, black pepper and minced garlic in a bowl and mix thoroughly and set aside in the fridge

BBQ Skewers 

  1. In a small mixing bowl, marinate the beef tenderloin with olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let marinate for at least 20 minutes. 
  2. Skewer meat with beef tenderloin, three to four pieces per stick. 
  3. Preheat a large saute pan on high heat for 60 seconds. Add butter to the pan and let melt. 
  4. Cook skewers in pan for four minutes, about one minute on each side for medium-rare. 
  5. Let rest for two minutes and then serve with aioli to dip. Enjoy!
